ER-Ultra Sound-Platelets- and 2 units of blood

Last week my left leg was really hurting.  It was hurting on the outside on the shin bone.   The doctor said it "could" be blood clots.... But, that was not a normal place to hurt for a blood clot.  So he said if the pain moved to the inside of my leg, I needed to let him know.  During the night last Thursday I didn't sleep much, maybe 3 hours.  The pain was so bad I couldn't sleep.  The pain also moved to the right side of my leg. It was HOT to the touch.
I looked on the Internet (big mistake) on blood clots.  I met every sign and symptom. I'm becoming a hypochondriac.  Anyway it really scared me.  Do I wake up Terry?  It also said to go to ER immediately.  I didn't want to "bother" anyone ----so I waited to tell Terry when he woke up.  Terry called the doctor and he said to take me to ER.... we decided to go to Provo to the ER since Terry had another appointment he couldn't miss. So Terry (upon my request and annoying stubbornness) dropped me off in the front of ER and he went to his eye appointment.
I got into ER and the doctor was really funny.  He kept asking me questions and then saying...."Yet-- here you are in ER."
They took a bunch of blood from me to get tested.  Then they sent me to get an ultra sound on my leg.  Little did the radiation tech know that I was ticklish.  Not only was I in pain..... I was dying of ticklishness.  The tech could not get the ultrasound machine to get an image of my blood vein between my trunk and my leg. (you know my groin area).  My muscles were tightening up and I would half giggle, half grunt.  The poor tech.  I finally told him I had an IDEA.  I would take a BIG deep breathe and when I released the breathe he could push his wand into my leg.  Success!!!  He got it to work with this method.
After the ultra sound, I went back to ER.  The blood tests came back a little skewed. So they took more blood.
The Results were in NO BLOOD CLOT!!! YEAH!  But what about the pain?  Still not sure.  Going to leave it that... God needed me in the hospital for tests.  Because, the blood tests came back.  My platelets on Thursday May 3 were approximately in the 260's.  Friday,May 11 they were 17 yes a low of 17.  The doctor was concerned and ordered platelets for "lunch."
Terry showed up about that time and we waited for what next.... when do I get them..... where do I go....?  It was about 11:00 and my platelets would be delivered from the blood bank at 2:00  I would go to IV Therapy.
Terry and I had lunch and he dropped me off at Jenni's.  Jenni- What a little trooper.  She drops everything to be with and take care of her mom.
So Jenni, Cali and I went to get platelets.
A full day of DRAMA!!  I don't like drama even on TV-- the worst!!
But, the drama doesn't stop there.  It goes into Monday.  The doctor wanted to see me on Monday to make sure my blood levels were good.  Terry took me to Jenni's at 8:00 on Monday.  Jenni, Cali and I head over to the doctor.  My blood levels were so low they would even come up on the report.  White blood-count, red blood-count, I was anemic, they were all low.  My appointment was at 9:00, we got in about 9:30.  Provo's IV Therapy was full, so we had to go to American Fork Hospital.  When I got to American Fork they cross-matched my blood and got it ordered.  TWO units of A +.  Jenni, Cali and I went to the Cafeteria and had lunch.  We had to wait for the blood to come from the blood-bank.  Four-YES -four hours later the blood was finally in my body.  This made me feel very sick.  During that four hours Jenni and I bought cards.  Brandon stopped by and we had a few games of UNO before he had to go back to work.  I feel very grateful to have family who cares and loves me.
Another full day of DRAMA!!
