In 2003 she was diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer. She underwent a lumpectomy and radiation therapy. However, in 2010, she was again diagnosed with cancer. This time, State IV breast cancer. She had a double mastectomy and is still receiving chemotherapy. Because of her illness, she had to retire last November. This year she was awarded the "K-12 Administrator of the Year Award." Just two weeks ago, she learned that she is terminal. They have given her 1-2 months to live.
Her sweet neighborhood is doing a fundraiser to help raise money to help pay for the medical bills. They put a facebook page together and I am doing mini sessions to help to towards the cause.
